A Ric Flair biopic better show the bad with the good

Ric Flair will be the subject of a new biopic developed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new studio. According to a report from TheWrap, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce the film alongside Fighting with My Family producer Kevin Misher.
“As a kid who grew up in professional wrestling, I idolized, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair,” Johnson said in a statement to TheWrap. “He was a hero to me. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood – my reverence for Ric turned to respect. Because I realized just how rare and impossible it is to disrupt the wrestling business, culture and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did. This project is personal, and we can’t wait to tell his unbelievable story. As always, thank you for the house, Ric.”
Flair is one of wrestling’s most iconic personas, with a career spanning over 50 years. The flamboyant “Nature Boy” persona dominated storylines from the 1970s and 1980s — a career that was nearly cut short by a plane crash in 1978. Flair also wrestled in a match in North Korea in 1995, drawing the largest crowd in professional wrestling history.
Flair also has a deeply complicated history. He was one of the wrestlers on the 2002 “Plane Ride from Hell,” where Flair was accused of forcing a female flight attendant to touch his exposed penis. The flight attendant later sued the WWE over the incident; the matter was settled out of court. Flair has also dealt with a deep amount of financial trouble, at one point putting his NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt up as collateral on a loan.
